Responsible for the day-to-day running of the Art department across all Art disciplines of Fine Art, Photography, Textiles and Graphic Design. Managing a team of up to five teaching staff and an Art technician. Liaising with the Technology Department to ensure a streamlined approach to learning across Art and Technology disciplines. Supporting and mentoring of student teachers. Responsible for the safety, well-being and academic attainment of approximately 300 students per academic year across three different Key Stages, alongside supporting a wider overview of students through intervention and monitoring practices. Monitoring the data of students in order to track progression and intervene where applicable. Lead curriculum for Art subjects, implementing new schemes of learning to improve quality of learning, spearheading engaging schemes of learning and preparatory material for lessons. Established positive classroom environments throughout the department, fostering partnerships with staff to productively review teaching practices. Addressed staff development, supporting and mentoring newer / more junior members of the department. Leading, scheduling, organising and risk assessing school trips of 100+ students. Timetabling of Art exams (up to 15-hour exams), organising room changes, cover and staffing. Handled welfare and safeguarding issues, monitoring behaviour and liaising with necessary personnel.
