In this checklist, you’ll find everything you need to know to create your Malt profile and increase your chances of getting the job.

As you complete your profile, please keep in mind the keywords that best define what you do, and your skills. Often found in client projects and briefs, these are the words your future clients are looking for. We will use our algorithms to make the best matches.

Your profile

Your future clients must understand who you are and what you do in just a few seconds.

A professional profile picture - This is the first thing your clients see (Don’t forget to Smile!).

Your activity - What can you do for them? (your job)

Your job category - Choose all the categories you specialize in and one main category.

Your description - Present your experiences and successes. Highlight your expertise and the way you work. Try to add a personal touch! What makes you stand out?

Spoken languages - Companies use the language filter to contact freelancers they can easily communicate with.

Your location - You can add multiple locations. Your main working location and the ones you’re willing to travel to. You can also indicate that you only work remotely. Therefore, you’ll only receive opportunities that do not require in-person work (For example, at the client’s office).

Your background

Whether you’ve worked as a freelancer or an employee, your past experiences will reassure your future clients. It's even better if you can back them up with reviews or recommendations from past employers or colleagues.

Your past experiences - By adding at least one experience, you increase your chances of being contacted by 60%. It’s easy! Just import your past experiences from your profile.

Your education- Your degrees and certifications make a big difference. Carefully fill them in so we can recommend you to clients looking for freelancers with a particular certificate or degree.

Skills - Your skills are vital in helping us find the projects that best suit you. We advise you to add at least 10 skills to your profile.

External referrals – If you’re starting as a freelancer, we highly recommend asking your former employers and colleagues to add referrals to your profile to reassure potential clients.

Your offer

Your rate, your company, your influence... put all the chances on your side.

Your ADR - to evaluate your ADR, feel free to check out the freelancers already working in your field of expertise on Malt.

We don't recommend lowering your ADR, to begin with.

Your company – Upload all your legal documents to your profile so that you can get paid and send quotes.

Your portfolio – This section is particularly interesting if you’re creative. Your portfolio is your showroom. Please make the most of it!

Your influence - Fill in your GitHub or Twitter links, so your clients can get to know you a little more.

Your preferences - Do you want to work for a particular industry? Do you prefer long or short assignments? Let us know!

The freelancer charter – Signing the freelancer charter is mandatory to work with clients on Malt. It guarantees work ethic and trust.

You now have all the keys for an optimized profile, and you can now receive your first assignments!

Good luck!
