Congratulations on joining Malt Strategy! You might now be looking for additional information to begin your onboarding? This article is a good place to start. Your profile has now been vetted by our team, and it is time to share with you our best practices regarding optimizing your profile, updating your availability, and answering opportunities.

1 - Your profile, your business card

Profiles on Malt Strategy are not visible or searchable, meaning your profile must be fully optimized to give you the best chance to get selected for a project. The more your profile is complete, the better we understand your needs, and the better we will match you to a relevant opportunity. As a reminder, your profile will not be visible to anyone apart from Malt’s team; thus, when a client submits a project brief, our algorithm will match your profile to relevant projects thanks to the information entered in your profile. We’ll give you a run down below for you to get the opportunities you deserve.

Completing your profile

A profile is considered “completed” at Malt if you've filled in the following requirements:

  • A title

  • A profile picture

  • At least 4 tags

  • A description of at least 200 characters

  • A daily rate

  • Adding at least one experience

  • Adding at least 3 tags in the skills section (so having at least 7 tags)

  • Signing the Malt charter of conduct

  • Adding at least a language

  • Your location and remote work preferences (working internationally is also an option)

  • Your education and certifications

  • Your project preferences

Once you start, a checklist will appear on the left-hand side, which aims to remind you to fill in every section by showing you what's still left to complete. Only you can see this checklist.

Keep updating your profile

The Malt team gets new opportunities all the time, so don’t forget to update your profile regularly, whether it be with new skills you’ve trained for or new projects you have worked on or are currently working on. You never know what new clients might be looking for! Should you be unavailable, keep this in mind also, as we will look for new projects for you 2 months before the end of your current one (more about this in the following part).

2 - Your availability, the sign we need

Your availability is an essential part of your Malt Strategy profile. It allows our team to see if you can meet the client’s requests and therefore send you opportunities.

Two statuses exist on Malt Strategy:

  • Available: to be updated every 7 days, specifying how many days this applies to, for example, two days a week on weekends.

  • Unavailable: to be updated according to your schedule, specify the date you will be available again in your profile. This is to be used if you’re already on an assignment or on vacation, for example. Specify when you’ll be available again so you’re not contacted during this period. We will, however, schedule your return with you by contacting you 2 months before your availability date. You will then start receiving assignment proposals again from our team, which will match your return date. If you’ve started a long-term assignment for a client, we advise you to mark your profile as "Unavailable." Conversely, if you have time for new opportunities, confirm your availability regularly (every seven days) for maximum visibility.

Should you have any additional questions about how to update your availability: take a look at our FAQ here

Your client mentioned an opportunity which you cannot fulfill? We are here to assist you with it by following 2 simple steps:

  • Share the project details with Malt. Fill out a simple form with project details. Malt’s team will get in touch with the client to validate the project brief and start looking for the best consultant.

  • Earn your referral bonus if the project is staffed via Malt. If the client works with a Malt consultant, you earn 5% of the invoiced project amount.

3 - Answering to opportunities, the key to your success

Malt Strategy is an exclusive community of management consultants and interim executives, meaning you are calling the shots. Our team will work hand in hand with you to identify the projects that match your interests, rates, and expertise. You will receive support from a dedicated Malt specialist who understands your unique needs and is always available during your project, from start to finish. This is the main reason why having an updated profile is really important: the better our team understands who you are and what you want, the better we can match incoming opportunities with your profile.

So how will this work exactly?

Getting and answering an opportunity

Malt Strategy being a closed community, opportunities come to you via the Malt team and more precisely, via your inbox. The steps go as follows:

  • 1. You will receive the details of the client’s project in your inbox and will be asked if you are interested or not

null

  • 2. If you selected “Apply,” you will then get the opportunity to introduce yourself, confirm your rate, and specify any restrictions you might have regarding this project (ex: you can’t work on Mondays).

null

  • 3. You may then specify the experience you have regarding the project that was suggested to you (ex: the client is looking for a consultant with cybersecurity experience, if you have some yourself, you will focus on detailing said experience for the client to understand better if you are a good match). Do you have several experiences to share? No problem, you will be able to share two.

null

  • 4. Click on “Apply” one last time, and your application will have been sent through. Should you get the project or not, a member of the Malt team will get back to you as soon as the client has made their pick.
