Malt freelancers

Hi there! I’m Gaëlle, Community Builder at Malt, and I’m here to walk you through the latest features we’ve launched.

Our platform is constantly evolving based on the feedback we receive from our community. That is why my goal is to help you make the most of these updates and guide you in optimizing your profile to unlock great opportunities.

Whether you’ve been on Malt for a certain period of time or you’ve just landed your first project, one thing is certain: your time is precious. Between project delivery, staying tech-savvy, and managing your accounting, every minute counts. That’s why this quarter, our teams focused on two major pillars: administrative simplicity and highlighting your experiences. Let’s take a look together.

Your experiences: the new engine of your visibility 🚀

 Past experiences are becoming a true game-changer. By analyzing customer behavior on the platform, one thing is clear: what they want to know above all is what you have done in the last 12 months. Why? Because in our lightning-fast industries, your successes from the past year are the best indicators of your current skills.

Bonus: AI is increasingly in demand. If you have used it in your recent projects (automation, content, data...), mention it! It’s a powerful argument that will make the difference for clients.

Updating your profile with your latest projects is important because:

  • Algorithm Boost: Your recent experiences are a strong signal of momentum. The more "active" your profile is, the higher it rises in search results.

  • Ultra-precise Matching: Our matching teams scrutinize your latest interventions to offer you projects that exactly match your current expertise.

Experiences on freelancer profile

Gaelle’s tips? Don’t wait until you’ve finished a project on Malt to update your profile. Did you complete a project directly with an external client? Did you wrap up a contract off-platform? Add it! Every new line in your last 12 months is an open door to your next opportunity.

The possibility of collecting more reviews

Some clients may forget to leave a review after you completed a project. However, this feedback is precious for you, and does a lot to optimize your profile. This is why you now have the possibility to ask your Malt clients to leave you a review for a project completed together, even if it ended a little while ago. You simply need to go to your project page, click on "More actions" and then on "Share project review link". The link is copied to your clipboard so you can paste it and send it to your client by email, for example.

How to renew a project

Admin: Fewer Clicks, More Projects

Let’s be honest: filling out quotes isn’t the most exciting part of freelance life. Yet, it’s the crucial step to securing your projects and triggering payments. This quarter, we’ve decided to turn this chore into a five-second formality.

Seamless Project Renewals

Just finished a three-month project and your client wants more? How satisfying! That’s the best quality assurance of your talent. You no longer need to start from scratch to extend the adventure. You can renew your projects (whether task-based or time-based) instantly.

  • How it works: Simply select a client in the quote funnel you’ve already worked with and choose an eligible project (ongoing, or completed less than a month prior).

  • The added bonus: The quote is automatically pre-filled with previous information. You just have to validate it or adjust it if your daily rate (TJR) has changed in the meantime.

Quotes as Templates

Spent time perfecting the service description for a complex project? Now, every project you have done on Malt becomes a potential template. If you start a similar new project with another client, you can use a past project as a starting point.

  • Goodbye manual entry: Your services and rates are imported in one click.

  • Stay in control: Just because it’s pre-filled doesn’t mean it’s fixed. You retain the power to edit every detail, add a line, or modify a quantity.

  • A clean interface: To keep your view uncluttered, we only display projects that were actually validated. Your drafts or expired quotes won’t appear in the template list, ensuring smooth navigation.

Gaëlle’s Tip: Use this feature to create a "standard proposal." The clearer, more structured, and more consistent your quotes are, the more professional and reassuring you appear to your clients. Administrative clarity is often a reflection of operational rigor.

Final Thoughts

All these updates have one goal: to free up your time and mental load so you can focus on your core business. Your profile is your best ally, so don’t hesitate to check it out today to see how these changes highlight your work.

But don’t stop there!

Gaëlle’s tip: Why not take 5 minutes right now and take the plunge with these three actions that will be game-changers for your visibility:

  • Update your profile by adding your most recent experience, for example;

  • Ask clients who haven't done so yet to leave you a review for a completed project;

  • Share your profile on LinkedIn. It’s the perfect time to announce your availability or simply present your latest projects to your network.

On my end, I’m always listening. These evolutions are the result of your feedback and daily needs, so keep sharing your ideas and impressions with the community.

See you next quarter for more features! In the meantime, I wish you great success in your projects and wonderful professional encounters.
