Developed Award-Winning YACHTSENSE (Modular) digital control system from first concept; collaborating with a limited development team, whilst working remotely. Devised fast-acting HW/SW protection measures to ensure operation of the switching modules remained reliable and safe. Re factored C++ code to improve runtime speed, which eliminated over-run on STM32F0 HW. Organized EMC and vibration testing and implemented HW & SW changes to resolve issues found during testing.

• Enabled auto-detection of types and order of modules by developing module detection protocol and hardware signalling.

Developed Multi-Function Display (AXIOM) products from conception to completion; collaborating with a multi-discipline team. Identified defects in design causing Android system crashes, through collaborating with SOC vendor and performing extensive stress and thermal performance testing. Developed and optimized software-controlled power supply sequence. Utilized supervisor (ARM32bit) microcontroller to control supply power outputs, and interface to SOM PMIC & CPU. Ensured quick recovery from power supply brownouts by adding an analogue comparator device driver coded in C.

• Established Android App (APK) for stress test, which enabled concurrent high processor (CPUs + GPU) load levels.

• Secured products within specific thermal limits by modifying power allocator (thermal throttling) parameters.

• Drafted Python-based ADB data capture scripts to capture load information, processor speed, and thermal data. Cultivated a series of useful shell scripts to collect vital data from units on test, e.g. crash logs.

Analysed Architectural Options for Future Products. Root Cause Analysis. Data analysis, using MATLAB and Python(x,y) to analyse, compare, filter and plot data. Environmental Stress Screening Improvement Study.

I was responsible for integrating, debugging and release testing the embedded device software used in all UK developed devices during their manufacture. This production only device software enabled;

• Calibration (RF circuits + Analogue circuits)

• Parametric testing (RF, Audio, Camera, Touch Screen)

• Functional tests (Charger, Keyboard, Display, Phone Call)

• Programming (IMEI + Security features + Final UI SW) During the product's life cycle, I would be fully responsible for:

• Initial Software Configurations (GPIO allocations, Feature lists)

• Prototype bring up

• Software Integration & Release Testing

• Debugging (Defect analysis, SW Tracing, Hardware signal measurements, Root cause Analysis)

• Production Support

• Manufacturing Failure Rate; Analysis, Root cause Investigations & Corrective actions. My strength in the role came from combining my software debugging skills with detailed hardware knowledge to rapidly solve time critical problems.
