Description

I am an award winning writer/director with over 25 years of experience in independent filmmaking and commercials. I’ve made films from no-budget to big budget, as a one-man band handling most of the processes to leading crews of up to 50-100 people. I know every part of the process inside and out and have collaborated with some of the best professionals in the business. I’ve presented my films at the biggest festivals in the world, from Toronto to London to Karlovy Vary. I’ve worked with some of the most respected funding bodies like the BFI, Film4 and ARTE. Through advertising I also worked with some of the biggest companies in the world, like IKEA, Kellogg’s and Sainsbury’s. My films have been awarded at BAFTA and nominated at BIFA. I’ve done guest lectures at BAFTA, various universities and film schools and have mentored filmmakers through BIFA, Film London and Creative England. I have a good technical understanding of cameras, lighting equipment and I edit a lot of my own work.

Directing Music Video ‘SOLDIER’ by ANDREW HUNG (half of the FUCK BUTTONS - famous for Danny Boyle choosing their song for the 2012 London Olympics opening ceremony).

In the accompanying “Soldier” video, directed by Tom Geens, Hung channels the song’s emotional intensity through extensive, tongue-in-cheek choreography. “What a blast these last ten days have been,” says Geens. “Received the go-ahead on Friday for delivery two weeks later. Within six days the film was produced and shot. There is nothing like a tight deadline to get the creative juices going. And there’s nothing more exhilarating than having to think on the spot! All the more enjoyable with people like Andy.” Hung continues, “I absolutely love this video that Tom made. Somehow he was able to create an incredibly deep and meaningful video that perfectly encapsulates the song and perhaps even the album itself: it’s fun, energetic but also sad and deep at the same time.”
