About Ajaz

Writer • Editor • Performer • Cultural Educator

I’m Ajaz — a British South Asian writer, performer, and editor working at the intersection of language, identity, and place. With over a decade of experience across writing, education, and the arts, I help individuals and organisations tell powerful, authentic stories that connect — through creativity, precision, and deep cultural awareness.

As the founder of To Whom Editorial, I offer creative services in writing, editing, tutoring, and content development for clients in the arts, education, and community sectors. I’m currently touring my solo spoken-word theatre show Groundling nationally. My debut poetry collection Full Nelson explores working-class identity and heritage, and my album Sincere Intentions blends poetry and music.

Internationally, I’ve led creative and educational projects in Saudi Arabia, Italy, and New York, and worked as a university lecturer and course coordinator in institutions across the UK and abroad — including Heriot-Watt University, CES Edinburgh, Saudi Electronic University, and more.

Locally, I serve as editor of a hyperlocal magazine, championing working-class voices and regional talent. My community-engaged practice and writing have been recognised with awards such as the Nature Writing Prize (longlisted), the Mono Poetry Prize (shortlisted), and the Lancashire Fringe Short Story Award. My work is supported by Arts Council England and featured by organisations like Super Slow Way, The Writing Squad, and The Walt Whitman Initiative.

Services I offer:
• Creative writing (poetry, prose, brand storytelling)
• Editing & feedback
• Ghost-writing
• Performance & spoken word commissions
• Workshop delivery & creative facilitation
• Copywriting for arts & education sectors

I’m passionate about crafting bold, human-centred work that reflects the world we live in — and the worlds we want to build. Let’s collaborate.
