What do you need me for? I'm a highly experience Web Developer who lives and breathes in high pressure situations, working alone, creating systems and squashing bugs. I've worked with the Managing Directors of several major companies over the past 20 years, excelling at what I do and keeping it real.

I'm open and honest, celebrating achievements and talking through those times when things didn't go so well (only to come back bigger, better and stronger). I live and breathe in the LAMP Stack on AWS, and am a great believer in the power of the 2am idea. If your system is broken, it doesn't have documentation, and you need it fixed quickly then I'm also the person for you. I can handle everything from that Wordpress plugin that doesn't quite do what you want through to a complete bespoke website built in vanilla PHP, and do it in such a way that it's maintainable by anyone who picks up the code.

Responsibilities

(Please note, for the first 10 years of this role it was as a hybrid employee in Oxfordshire, transitioning to a home based contractor as the business needs changed.)

Complete oversight and hands on development of both customer facing and back end systems for a busy HR survey company. Development of all systems from an out-of-date Java based surveying system to a modern suite based on web technologies (PHP/MySQL/CSS/jQuery). This included redesigning the system from the ground up so that 100% uptime was achieved, with flexibility for: consultants to develop and style their own surveys; a client facing dashboard to feed back results; and for consultants to be able to edit and style their own reports. The customer facing system was developed to meet all accessibility requirements over the past two years.

100% data accuracy was required on all reporting systems with a high level of attention to detail both on the styling and data side. This role involved working directly with the owner of the company to achieve fantastic results and overcome a multitude of challenges to exceed client expectations. It often meant thinking creatively under pressure. Day to day duties also included keeping backups of all data while complying with Data Protection standards and consulting on new projects for the owner as well as AWS server maintenance..

Technical lead on large scale projects for multi-national corporations with high levels of SLA and very stretching deadlines. Development included the makeover of sites to very exacting graphical and functional specifications; work in the CakePHP framework to produce sites from the ground up; and development in pure PHP to produce smaller, more responsive systems.

Technical lead on three other similar projects. Frameworks used were Cairngorm, PureMVC and Mate. I also worked on Apps for Android including a shopping cart solution designed to be scalable to small and large scale clients. During this time I also supported a .NET C# system used in the cable laying industry, maintaining a current codebase while also adding new functionality.

Clients included a multinational fashion house, a private aviation provisions specialist, an international banking corporation and a UK wide chain of art galleries.
