About Rebekka

I’m a multilingual translator and editor passionate about shaping texts that read naturally across languages and cultures. With a BA in British Studies and an ongoing MA in English Literatures and Scandinavian Studies at University College London, I’ve lived and studied in Leipzig, Berlin, Oslo and London — experiences that continue to deepen my understanding of linguistic nuance and cultural context.

I translate from English into German and vice versa, as well as from Norwegian, Swedish and Danish into German or English. My work combines precision with stylistic sensitivity to ensure that meaning, tone and rhythm travel smoothly between languages. I also offer editing services for English and German texts.

Over the past year, I’ve regularly edited academic and informational texts by a Japanese professor of German. This included a presentation on the perception of Scandinavia in Japan and texts about her German courses and teaching philosophy.

My areas of expertise include arts and culture, history, politics, education and sports.

If you’re looking for an ambitious and creative translator or editor who combines linguistic nuance with cultural insight, I’d be happy to bring your project to life.

Education

  • English Studies, Bachelor of Arts
    Universität Leipzig, Universitetet i Oslo
    2024
During my bachelor’s studies, I explored a broad range of disciplines within linguistics, cultural studies, and literary studies, with a particular focus on English literature. I also took elective courses in German literary studies and completed language courses in French, Norwegian, and Swedish. A semester abroad at the University of Oslo deepened my interest in Scandinavian literature and cross-cultural perspectives. My bachelor’s thesis, “Forms of Knowledge in Romantic Fiction: The Depiction of Knowledge in Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein,” examined how literary narratives engage with ideas of knowledge and discovery. The programme’s interdisciplinary approach shaped the analytical precision and creative openness I bring to my work today.
  • Scandinavian Studies, English Literatures, Master of Arts
Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, University College London
I am currently completing my master’s in English Literatures and Scandinavian Studies at UCL. In Scandinavian Studies, I have focused on the literary and cultural history of Northern Europe, with Norwegian as my main language. The programme requires the ability to read and analyze texts in Norwegian, Swedish, and Danish, which has deepened my understanding of linguistic and cultural connections across the region. Within English Literatures, I have engaged with a wide range of authors, periods, and genres, with particular interests in queer theory and ecocriticism.
